Stopping Treatment: A life threatening decision

"It may seem hopeless, but one must try to never-lose-hope, as life is sweet no matter how thin the thread."    --Douglas Crozier

When you say enough is enough

If you are thinking of refusing or ending treatment, you may want to speak with your spouse, family members, friends, a social worker, or other counsellors as you consider this life-ending decision.

Of course, it is easy to say don't stop treatment when it is not you going through it. However, we all have times when we say we have had enough and make decisions in that state of mind.

Share your feelings

Talking with your doctor or social worker, person of faith can help if you are depressed. You do not need to suffer in silence.

In fact, talking out your feelings, fears, and upsets with people who truly understand your situation can actually make you feel a lot better.  As you may imagine, once you start feeling better you may see your options in a more positive light.

You & your Thoughts

Many mental health studies around the world have shown that people who regularly write their thoughts down - might have a secret to feeling better, resolving past hurts, and perhaps, the body heals faster!

You can hear you!

Many people see writing in a diary as a young teenage thing to do. Many mental health studies from around-the-world, would disagree.

Research has shown those who journal daily, writing down their thoughts and feelings, could be letting go of past hurts and even helping heal their body faster!

In journaling, there is no wrong or right way of doing it. Simply taking a few minutes and writing down your thoughts, feelings whatever, they may be - write them down. And end with a few good things that happened in the day and what you are grateful for with yourself and do this for five weeks.

Remember, the body hears everything even when you are not speaking - all of it, the positive and the negative.

Before you stop treatment, please consider writing your thoughts down in a journal. Write about things that happened that day that pleased you, made you happy, made you smile.

Just try it for a few weeks, then see how you feel about stopping treatment.
