What is Albumin?

Albumin is a protein found in the body. It is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma. This protein is produced in the liver and constitutes around half of the total blood serum protein.

Creatinine is a break-down product of creatine phosphate found in muscles of the body. Everyone has creatinine in their bloodstream. Ranges of acceptable depend on sex, body size, age and race.

What is Albumin to Creatinine Ratio?

Albumin to Creatinine Ratio (ACR) is a very important ratio that measures kidney function.  It is key, those with diabetes have regular albumin tests.

Beeturia

Beets can produce beeturia, which is when urine becomes tinted pink or red from eating beets or drinking beet juice.

Orange

Carrots can turn urine (and your skin) orange! It's the vitamin beta-carotene in carrots that's responsible for the colour change.

Brownish

Fava beans are among the foods most likely to affect urine colour by turning it brownish.


Green

For some the odour asparagus can cause, is enough not to eat it. Asparagus can also make your urine turn a greenish colour.
